PSYC 207 Introduction to Counselling Psychology
3 Credits

Following an overview of therapist-client relationship skills and ethical issues, this course examines various theories and techniques of counselling. Methods of assessment, intervention, and evaluation are studied. Medications used with psychological disorders are explored. In addition, case studies are reviewed throughout the course. Particular emphasis is on multicultural and diversity issues in counselling. Whenever possible learners are encouraged to engage in cross-cultural analysis of psychological phenomenon through an Indigenous lens.
