Mountain Adventure Science Certificate

Mountain Adventure Science (MAS) is an immersive, one-year certificate program that merges adventure with experiential, field-based science. The curriculum emphasizes community-based projects and adventurous field studies, equipping learners with the applied skills necessary for careers in the environmental and geoscience sectors. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level employment as a field technician or environmental monitor, and to continue their studies in the Applied Earth and Environmental Science specialization at CMTN.

Additional Credentials offered as part of field schools. Credentials will include Wilderness First Aid and selected courses relevant to applied research projects and field-specific safety requirements (e.g., Swiftwater Rescue, Avalanche Skills Training (AST1))

  • Grade 12 recommended 
  • English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 or equivalent AND
  • Foundations of Math 11 OR equivalent

The prerequisites for individual courses are outlined in the course descriptions. Students missing prerequisites may enroll in the university credit prerequisite course or the Career & College Preparation (CCP) upgrading courses while completing the program.
