Learn and practice the skills needed in the plumbing trade such as installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing fixtures and various water, hydronic, drainage, waste and vent systems. Plumbers install specialized systems such as medical gas, process piping, compressed air, water conditioners, fuel piping, sewage and water treatment, and storage and flow equipment. Plumbers interpret drawings, refer to layouts of existing services, and review applicable codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures. In addition to the Plumber Foundations learning outcomes, students will engage in critical essential skills to succeed in today’s job market and/or further post-secondary education.

- Adopt routines to maintain a healthy mind and body as well as choose elements of effective communication in order to develop and maintain positive human relations.
- Consider short- and long-range professional goals, recognize steps necessary for a job search, engage in and maintain professional relationships as well as relate to types of nail salon ownerships, structure, operations and requirements for good business practice.
- Perform sanitation procedures and precautions for infection control in a school or nail salon environment and identify agencies that enforce safety and health standards in the workplace.
- Explain the relationship and function of cells, tissues and organs in the human body as well as identify the structure and function of the 10 major body systems.
- Describe three basic forms of matter and the difference between elements, atoms, molecules and compounds as well as name the common use of solvents in the nail industry, list ingredients that make up nail polish, explain how nail plate and nail product adhere to each other and compare different artificial nail systems.
- Incorporate skin and nail physiology in order to describe the structure and growth process of the nail, identify and describe common nail diseases and disorders, list primary functions and physiology of the skin and recognize common diseases and disorders of the skin.
- Demonstrate essentials in client care such as greeting, consultation, delivery of service and recommendations in follow up product and services.
- Perform basic natural nail services such as manicure and pedicure utilizing professional manicure and pedicure products, implements, supplies and equipment including five basic movements of massage for hand and foot care.
- Demonstrate procedures for artificial nail services while utilizing proper nail preparation, tip application, product application, balancing and finishing techniques as well as application and procedures for artificial nail service maintenance.
- Recommend and perform various hand and foot specialty add on services including nail art.

Grade 12 OR Mature Student.
Four credits of English at a grade 12 level or equivalent AND Foundations of Math 11 or Workplace Mathematics 11 (MWPM-11/WPM 11) or higher.
