EDUA 115 Understanding Families
3 Credits

This course examines the patterns and structures of family life, the influences on family and the diversity of family from one culture and class to another. The course focuses on providing an understanding of how different family dynamics create variability in individual children's social and emotional development. The purpose of this course is to increase student awareness regarding the diversity of families, which in turn will influence their ability to provide relevant family support to children and families. The course includes a focus on Indigenous families including traditional and current parenting practice and the effects of colonization on those practices.
