ANTH 212 Cultural Resource Management

This course offers an introduction to the practice of cultural resource management in British Columbia. Major topics include: the nature of cultural resources in B.C., potential threats to those resources, the legislation protecting heritage sites in B.C. and the role of the B.C. Archaeology Branch in coordinating conservation efforts. The course also examines the ethics of archaeology and the steps that are being taken towards a greater participation of First Nations in the management and interpretation of heritage resources in B.C.
