ACE 197 Environmental Monitoring Techniques

Environmental monitoring is an essential tool that supports in managing the impacts of various land use activities across British Columbia's diverse ecosystems. Learners will study the principals of environmental monitoring and will learn the role of an environmental monitor. This course introduces monitoring techniques in water quality, invasive species, weather, air quality, and explores municipal wastewater and drinking water management. Emphasis will be placed on using evidence-based monitoring practices and the importance of quality assurance to accurately report on the risks associated with industrial, recreational, and residential development in coastal ecosystems.
